POSITION SUMMARY This position will prepare, dispense, and compound medication under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Provide prescription support services for patients to ensure safe, appropriate, effective and efficient delivery of medication therapy. Provide excellent customer service skills, high attention to detail, strong problem solving, documentation and computer skills. Work closely with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to support pharmaceutical care activities, complete pharmacy billing activities, record keeping, reporting, inventory management, and arrange appropriate medication delivery. CORE FUNCTIONS 1. Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, review and interpret prescriptions. 2. Prepare and dispense appropriate amount of medication under supervision of a pharmacist. Deliver medications accurately to the patient. 3. Answer phones, accept prescriptions, and may communicate with patients in waiting area. 4. Assist with inventory, maintain a clean work environment, and assist with any other administrative duties as assigned by supervising pharmacists or senior technicians. 5. Follow policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements and perform other work assignments Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge and/or may be in training for a technical/trades career. Licensed and registered pharmacy technician in the state of practice, where applicable. Minimal experience, typically gained through 0-2 years relevant work experience. Ability to attend and successfully complete 160 hours of on the job training required. Strong customer service focus, superior problem-solving abilities. Ability to complete moderate to difficult mathematical calculations using a hand-held calculator is required. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Associates or bachelor's degree in related field preferred. Proficiency and experience with third party claims adjudication and claims rejection reconciliation preferred. Proficiency and experience with non-sterile, sterile and hazardous drug compounding preferred. Work experience which demonstrates analytical ability, judgment and interpersonal skills in pharmacy or healthcare preferred. Experience and proficiency with computer software applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) or comparable program. Additional related education and/or experience preferred. |
