This is the full performance level for pharmacy technicians. Employees at this grade level serve as staff pharmacy technicians receiving little guidance from more experienced staff members for more complex patients and procedures, and require minimal supervision. Birmingham Salary Range: $35,359 to $45,969 Huntsville Salary Range: $36,451 to $47,389 This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until December 27, 2021. The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications will be 12 April 2021, with subsequent cut-off dates every Monday. Eligible applications received after that date will be referred at regular intervals or as additional vacancies occur on an as-needed basis until positions are filled. The Pharmacy Technician provides support for the licensed Pharmacist. The incumbent while under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist will be expected to perform supportive functions independently. The incumbent is expected to maintain a high degree of accurate productivity and performance when performing critical functions. The technician's major duties will include setting up, filling, and preparation of medications, including sterile products, for dispensing. Labeling all medications appropriately for dispensing to patients, wards or clinics; including all applicable auxiliary labels. Delivering medications to appropriate areas. Noncomplex preparation of sterile compounds (if trained and locally certified to perform this function). Using automated pharmacy equipment Answering telephone calls and receiving messages for the pharmacist. Customer service duties to include answering general questions from external and internal customer. The technician will be assigned an area of responsibility (i.e. ward stock, expiration dates, Pyxis maintenance) for which they will manage.
