The Pharmacy Technician within VAMC Wilkes-Barre performs duties in various sections of the in/out patient pharmacy. This is a part-time employment opportunity and may not exceed (NTE) 13 months. Major duties include, but may not be limited to: Inpatient preparation and distribution of unit dose medications and ward stock items; stock management; operation, maintenance, re-stocking and troubleshooting of automated dispensing equipment processing; filling outpatient prescriptions for scheduled and non-scheduled federal legend drugs and medical devices, over-the-counter products and supply items; patient and customer relations; and preparation and maintenance of various logs, records and reports. May perform other duties as directed. Incumbent should be fully aware of all aspects of drug nomenclature including generic/chemical and brand names, dosage forms, various systems of weights and measures; characteristics of drug packaging; various uses for drugs; VA and regulatory agency requirements for drug storage; special requirements for procurement, storage, distribution and handling of various classes of drugs. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm; rotating schedule may be required, including evenings, weekends and some holidays Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
